The Mitchells & Butlers Chefs’ Academy

If you are near Manchester, Birmingham or London and are looking to expand your skillset through both on-the-job training and workshops in our academies, then Chefs’ Academy is perfect for you.

You will take on a paid full-time role in one of our businesses near to your home, joining a close-knit team and working under the supervision of passionate chefs. Here, you will work as a team to create our signature dishes, ensuring they always leave the kitchen looking great! Your daily tasks will include using varied cooking techniques to create dishes, all whilst keeping a safe and hygienic working environment and ensuring food safety

You will also attend two days per month at our academies in Watford (North London), Harborne (Birmingham) or Didsbury (Manchester). Here, you will be taught by award-winning chefs a different food focus per month, giving you an advanced knowledge of cooking processes.

Your training both in-business and at the twice monthly workshops will be combined to give you a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship.

The entry requirements for our Chefs’ Academy

You must be between school leaving age and 24. You also need the right to work in the UK, no criminal convictions and not be in full time education.

We like our apprentices to be hard working, with a positive attitude and a desire to learn. A passion for people is vital, but we don’t expect you to have any relevant experience - we are looking for your personality and potential instead!

For me, Chefs’ Academy has been an opportunity to develop my skills and prove to myself that I can do it! It allows me to work and learn at the same time, so I’m glad to be given the opportunity. What I really like about the course is that every time I visit the workshops, I learn something new and delicious.
